Genpaku Sotan

Tensho 6 (1578) - Manji 1 (1658). The third Iemoto of Omotesenke. His father was Shoan. He was contented with a life of honest poverty and devoted himself to the wabi-cha of Rikyu. He busied himself with finding employment for his sons as tea masters, making great efforts to establish Senke as a tea family and to ensure its continuation. He also had a very wide range of acquaintances, including daimyos, court nobles, priests, merchants and so on.
