Suki

This word refers to chanoyu. Originally it was written with the Chinese character meaning 'like' and meant a liking for the arts. Before long it came to refer to the arts themselves, such as music and waka poetry. In the Azuchi-Momoyama period it came to refer to chanoyu. Also the words 'chasuki' (chanoyu) 'sukiya' (tea house) sukisha (a person who enjoys the way of tea) came into being and the word 'suki' became popular.
