Jar in which tea leaves are stored. At the kuchikiri tea gathering, the seal on the tea jar is broken and the leaves are ground in a mortar to make matcha (powdered tea). There is also a custom of displaying the tea jar called 'tsubo kazari'. In the time of Sen no Rikyu the tea jar was regarded as the most important tea utensil.
