The Northern California Region was founded in 1970. We will celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2010.
We are incorporated as a not for profit public benefit educational corporation and as such donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

In February we conducted classes in the Way of Tea for school students, sponsored by the Japanese Consul General of San Francisco, thus promoting cultural exchange through Tea as well as introducing the Way of Tea to about 200 middle school, high school and college students. |
|

April 11, 2010 |
As part of the 43rd annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, Omotesenke Domonkai will be demonstrating the Way of TeaEto the general public in the Osaka Room of the Kabuki Hotel in Japan Town San Francisco at 1pm, 2pm 3pm & 4pm. |

May 15, 2010 |
There will be a special large tea gathering held at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese Embassy to the United States and the Japanese Navys Kanrin Maru on March 17, 1860.
Omotesenke Domonkai will be serving tea at one of the venues in this event.
Anyone wishing to attend this event should consult the museums website.

In conjunction with our 40th anniversary celebrations on lectures will be given by Nukina Sosho on The Future of the Way of TeaEand Prof. Kumakura on The Japanese Sense of BeautyEat the Nikko Hotel in San Francisco. Please use the contact information below if you wish to attend.

September 4, 2010 |
Omotesenke Domonkai will be demonstrating a tea gathering in the San Francisco Asian Art Museums tea house. Tea and sweets will be served to attendees with tickets. Anyone wishing to attend this event should consult the museums website.

October 17, 2010 |
Omotesenke Domonkai will be participating in the 10th Annual Hakone Daichakai [large tea gathering]. For information about this event interested parties should consult the Hakone Gardens website. The gardens are located in Saratoga California near San Jose. |

In addition to the activities listed above there are many public and private events hosted by the members of our organization. We exist in part to support them in their endeavors to extend the practice of the Omotesenke Way of Tea but only official activities can be listed here. |

June 18th-20th, 2010 |
There will be the inaugural ceremonies for the new East Coast Branch in New York. |

June 24, 2010 |
There will be a fortieth anniversary banquet. This will be followed the next day by the public lectures by Nukina Sosho and Prof. Kumakura that are mentioned above. |

August 6th~8th, 2010 |
Will be the annual seminars for Kyojusha (Teachers), Shikakusha (Instructors) and general members, plus the annual general meeting and banquet. |

September 26th, 2010 |
Will be the annual memorial tea for the 7th Grand Master of the Omotesenke Way of Tea, Tennen-ki. |
|

|
January 9th, 2011 |
Will be the first event of the New Year or Hatsugama Chakai [first kettle] and luncheon. |
|

|
March 20, 2011 |
Will be the date of Rikyu-ki, our memorial tea for Sen Rikyu, the founder of Omotesenke. |

Questions about tea procedures etc. should be directed to your teacher.
Questions about matters involving the head office, grand master, or anything else about Omotesenke should be directed to the head office in Kyoto.
