Tsuda Sotatsu

1504 - 66. A wealthy merchant of Sakai. His business was called Tennojiya. In Tenbun 17 (1548) he wrote the Tennojiya Kaiki (records of tea gatherings). At that time he wielded a quiet power in Sakai and owned many meibutsu utensils. He was a leading figure in Sakai's world of chanoyu.
